February 6, 2013 marked the official launch of the Albanian Renewable Energy Association (AREA) in Tirana, Albania. AREA is a professional association designed to represent and be an advocate for the renewable energy sector of Albania; to facilitate foreign and domestic investments; improve the business environment; and promote implementation of international best practices within the sector.
During the launch event, AREA’s founding members (13 domestic and international energy-sector companies operating in Albania) adopted AREA’s statute, elected the Executive Board of the Association and a Chairman of the Executive Board. Remarks were given by Mr. Jan Braathu, the Norwegian Ambassador to Kosovo and Albania.
With funding from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Crimson is providing technical assistance and project management support to AREA in developing its organizational capacities, structure and revenue generating activities.
