Crimson Helps Organize Albania Energy Market Conference

With organizational support from Crimson Capital, the “Energy Market and Infrastructure towards Integration Conference: 3rd EU Energy Package - Implications for the Albanian Energy Sector Development in Albania” took place in Tirana on October 29, 2012. Crimson organized the event in partnership with the Albanian Energy Regulator (ERE); the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA)); the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy of Albania; and the Prime Minister’s Office. The conference was financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The conference provided an overview of the 3rd European Union (EU) Energy Package, and its potential impact on Albania’s energy sector. (The 3rd EU Energy Package refers to a package of legislation on European electricity and gas markets designed to further liberalize European energy markets and make them more competitive). Energy sector investment opportunities in Albania and strides in liberalizing the energy market, including regulatory reforms were also presented.

The conference brought together key stakeholders in the energy industry and was officially inaugurated by HE Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, Prime Minister of Albania. The event hosted more than 200 guests, including representatives from the public, private and civil sectors from Albania and abroad.
